Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer


General Machine Products, a Klein Tools company, located in Suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a manufacturer of a wide range of products for the telecommunications, power utility and cable television industries, and the contractors who serve them.

We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer to be located in our Trevose, PA Facility.


Develops and writes Computer Numerical Control CNC Programs for machine tools. Coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant by performing the following duties.

Specific Responsibilities will include:

Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.

Analyzes and plans space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

Confers with equipment suppliers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.

Writes program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.

Compares or computer output with original program to assure accuracy of machine instructions.

Revises program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.

Observes operation of machine on trial run to validate machine efficiency or programmed instructions.

Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.



Bachelor's degree B. A. from fouryear College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
