CNC Programmer

Position Summary: To create and optimize CNC manufacturing processes and procedures for complex aerospace components

Organizational Relationship: Direct Report to the Engineering Manger

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Create CNC programs from Customer Drawings and Solid Models
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software
  • Proficiency is computer programming (C++, VBA, Python, etc.)
  • Test, verify, and debug programs at the machine
  • Design custom tooling and fixturing for CNC lathes, 5-axis mills, and other machines for production purposes
  • Interact directly with machine operators to address programming concerns and problems
  • Interact with Inspection personnel to ensure that 1st Article Inspections are completed and inspected parts meet customer and internal requirements
  • Create internal work instructions
  • Make programming improvements that enhance quality and drive out cost
  • Use safe work practices and work to maintain a safe working environment
  • Perform all Job Duties meeting the requirements of TECT
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by management

  • Four year college degree in one of the following- (Preferred)
    • Engineering / Engineering Technology (Aerospace/Mechanical preferred)
    • Computer Science
    • 3 years programming experience (preferred)
      • CNC  or Computer programming acceptable
Skills / Abilities / Certificates:
  • Write, Read, and Speak English effectively and efficiently
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Teamwork abilities and skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Mathematical Knowledge
    • Must have complete grasp of trigonometry
    • Higher level math preferred
  • Experience with parametric modeling software (NX, Catia, Solidworks, etc.)
  • Experience with Computer programming Languages & Logic (VBA, Python, C++, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and customer specifications
Working Conditions / Environment
  • Normal Manufacturing Shop conditions
  • 70% of shop floor requirement
