Produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards. Keeping records, maintaining equipment and supplies. This is a full-time, hourly position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS and PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Configure mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
Loads machine with work pieces.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces.
Maintains specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, editing programs, sharpening and replacing worn tools, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Meets production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality.
Maintains safe operations by keeping work area clean and organized and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Maintains equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, initiating repair work orders.
Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Documents actions by completing required paper and/or electronic logs.
Participate in required meetings and training.
Any other related duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Up to five years’ experience in CNC machining, or
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Please note that operators could be running 3-4 machines at a time. This is an hourly position with a shift premium for working the second shift.
There are two shifts:
First Shift: Sun-Tues 6am-6pm, Wed 6am-12:15pm.
Second Shift: Wed 11:45am-6pm, Thur-Sat 6am-6pm.
